Cranial Sacral Therapy is known world-wide for being one of the safest and very effective ways to treat babies, from the first week onwards.  During the birthing experience, enormous pressure is exerted on baby's body, often causing restrictions and compression patterns that lead to discomfort and pain for baby.

If the birthing process was premature, difficult, fast or needed intervention then there is an even higher likelihood of baby's system being affected/compromised.

Caesarean babies can also be affected by the birthing process. They may have been in an unusual lying position within the womb, causing a buildup of pressure through their head or pelvis, or a prolonged and difficult labour that ultimately ended in a Caesarean section. Even with planned C-sections, a very quick birth can lead to activation and shock in baby's nervous system.

During a Cranial Sacral Therapy session I work gently to help release strain patterns and nervous system shock in baby - if left untreated, studies have shown that they may lead to health issues as a child grows, including learning difficulties and behaviour problems, and even anxiety and depression as an adult.

Treatment sessions can be very helpful if your baby is exhibiting any of the following conditions:

  • Premature/difficult/fast birth

  • Vacuum, forceps, C-section birth

  • Uneven headshape from birthing process

  • Head favouring one side

  • Colic, frequent crying

  • Reflux, spilling

  • Feeding/sucking/latch difficulties

  • Trouble winding

  • Straining, arching of body

  • Difficulty settling & sleeping

  • Baby showing distress & discomfort

  • Over-sensitised nervous system

  • Teething pain

  • Developmental delays

  • Tongue tie

Tongue-tie can occur when the tissue between the undersurface of the tongue and the floor of the mouth, called the lingual frenulum, interferes with the normal movement of the tongue.Tongue-tie restricts normal range of motion of the tongue and can adversely affect breastfeeding. Tongue-tie is associated with persistent maternal nipple pain, slow or poor infant weight gain, reflux and maternal low milk supply. Tongue restriction issues can be caused by damage/strain to the tendons, ligaments, muscles, nerves etc, in utero or during birth and can very often be resolved with Cranial Sacral Therapy sessions)

Post Natal Recovery

(Home visits are possible)

Giving birth and becoming a Mum is a beautiful experience, yet also a time when the demands of a newborn can be exhausting, especially if the birthing process had difficulties. Taking time to look after your wellbeing is just as important as looking after baby's, and helps you to truly be able to enjoy this special time.

A postnatal Cranial Sacral Therapy session is an ideal treatment option to help to release any tension and strains remaining from the birthing process, as well as offering emotional resourcing, and is particularly beneficial for:

  • Difficult or long labour/delivery

  • C-section: pain, discomfort, nerve function improvement, body/tissue trauma recovery

  • Pelvic floor weakness

  • Physical/emotional exhaustion

  • Overwhelmed

  • Postnatal depression

  • Difficulty bonding with baby
